by Rene Nicolau

Rene Nicolau was born in the highlands of the eastern Free State. She grow-up on a beautiful farm with lovely wetland posture and sand stones hills in the Vrede district. This scenic town have milled summers and cold winters and more often than not a beautiful snow blanket to cover the country side. This picture perfect backdrop was the setting for her riding as a child. Even before she was able to walk she was put on a horse and taught to ride by her dad whom she regard as a great horseman and who spent a great deal of his life as a competitive rider. Like any real farm girl she used to work hard on the farm training and braking in the young horses. She did show-jumping but her dad insisted on a strong dressage background and later she decided to become more involved in endurance. Rene studied media after school, spent last year discovering her roots in Greece and travelled through most of Europe but no matter what road she took it kept on leading her back to working with horses. She has a great love for horses and hope to pass on some of the joy horses have given her to others!
The private afternoon lessons take place at Zwavelpoort close to the Lynnwood and Hans Strijdom crossing.
Timeslots are available from Mondays to Thursdays from 14:00pm – 17:00pm. We focus mainly on proper horse riding skills, together with therapeutic activities if necessary. As the young rider outgrows the group activity at school, the private lessons offer more in-dept training.
